I grew up in Dubbo in country NSW, a long way from charming Cheltenham. Finishing school in the late 80's, I went straight into banking where I experienced manual telling and home loan interest rates sitting around 17%. Banking in the 80's and 90's in country NSW instilled a customer first focus and belief that if we have empathy and understanding for everyone, we will succeed both professionally and personally.
After a 7-year stint in the travel industry I had to make a decision about which direction I was heading long term. The combination of close customer interaction that I had in travel, as well as the complexity of finance, lured me to Mobile Lending and I have been involved with ANZ now for more than 13 years, 9 of which as a proud franchisee.
Having more than 13 years of lending experience, I have navigated a number of complex financial scenarios which has allowed me to identify quickly, pitfalls or potential hazards that could affect my clients. Having bought and sold several properties and even built a home, I can relate to most situations and communicate with empathy towards my clients. With experience comes an ability to simplify the discussion and ensure that clients both young and old have a solid understanding of the home loan process. They leave a little more informed and educated from when they started.
The best part of the job is the gratitude I receive when I have exceeded a client’s expectations and surprised them by going above and beyond to help them. If we look after our clients, they will look after us.
I love a good laugh, especially a good dad joke with my cringing wife and sons. l enjoy watching my children grow up but wish I could hit pause on that sometimes. I can easily lose time in a good Netflix series and I'm definitely a Star Wars nerd … hey, I grew up in the 80's.
